  We highly, highly recommend this funeral home. At a time of unparalleled grief, you want someone to care for your loved one as much as you we were very fortunate that we found John Gillespie at Altman-Long Funeral Home, who I understand that John and his wife Amanda are the new owners of Altman-Long. My dad was in hospice and we knew it was getting close to time to make the funeral arrangements. I called several funeral homes and from the first time I spoke John his caring and understanding of what we were going through came through. We wanted a very nice respectful service for my dad or was a WWII veteran. John knew we were in so much grief and still had to care for my aging mother, he said we will handle everything and he did. He contacted us each step of the way and ask if this is what we wanted. They made a beautiful video Tribute to my dad who loved fishing and they started it out with his joy of fishing with a boating scenes, then the love of his life, my mom, whom he was married to for 70 years and the love of his family, and ended the video Tribute to my dad’s military service, with a beautiful military respect of TAPS, eagles, and the honor of a soldier who proudly served his country in WWII..
  
  Now in telling you the above, I want you to know that John and his caring team did all this when Hurricane Matthew came through. My dad passed on Tuesday 10-4-16, Hurricane Matthew came through on Friday 10-7-16, and my dad’s service was Saturday 10-8-16. On Friday 10-7-16 as you know it was the height of the Hurricane passing through, we did not know what to expect on Saturday for the funeral and John called us on Friday to see how we were doing, again showing his care for our family during such a hard time. He offered to move the service to the following week if that would be easier on us. We told him we wanted to get my mom through the funeral service as quickly as possible and keep the service on Saturday, which turned out to be a beautiful day to say goodbye, until we see each other again in heaven, to such a wonderful man, my dad.
  
  Even though we do not need a funeral home very often, thank goodness, I already know who I will contact when we have to plan for another sad event in our life. I strongly, strongly recommend John and his staff when it is your time to plan for your loved one.
